Professional Experience
I student taught in the Adrian 5/6 building in fall of 2015. I was with a fifth grade math and science room. We worked with decimals, multiplication, place value, in math, and technology, engineering, states of matter, and chemical vs. physical changes in science. It was definitely a great experience to have!
Out of the Classroom
When I am not teaching I like to keep myself busy. Usually this means I throw myself into an organization and help out in any way possible. Throughout my time here at Adrian College, as well as my time at home in the summer, I have been volunteering at different events.
During my time teaching the fifth graders at Adrian Middle School, I have willingly (and enthusiastically) helped out at their musical, "Dinosaurs Before Dawn". After being in multiple plays and musicals both in high school and in college, and helping backstage during my church's Christmas Eve program, I felt like I could definitely handle it. So during the musical you could find me doing the dinosaur makeup and helping backstage keeping the children contained and quiet. This was a super fun time and something that I definitely am interested in helping with in the future.

Being musical and playing the clarinet for 12 years has given me something to connect with my students. They are just getting into band and orchestra, so I love talking to them about musical things. One thing that I knew I wanted to do was go to the band, orchestra, and choir concerts that they put on. This was fun to experience because it had been a while and I never realized what level a fifth grader was at playing-wise.

After school, I like to help out at the Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee County with homework help and just being an extra person on hand, as well as different "Kids Korners" when I am at my college's Homecoming and Family Weekend games. Science is my major and it is super important to me, so being a part of every Chemistry club event was fun for me. This includes the chemical demonstration show, as well as the cub scout science event. During these events, not only did I work with my peers creating different science demonstrations to do in front of them, but I also got to work one on one with cub scouts eager to explore science experiments to earn their badge. One of the science topic that I worked with was the center of gravity as shown to the right.
