Performance Based Assessment
Throughout the units that I have taught during my associate teaching experience, I have had my students do different formative performance based assessments. These might include after teaching them a couple lessons, I have them create a little song, poem, or movement to go along with some of the information that they learned. My fifth graders absolutely loved doing these different yet quick assessments. I would give them 5-10 minutes to create something and they would then present it to the rest of the class.

Ship of Shapes Rubric
This is a math lesson that I created for a first grade classroom. It is on the geometry of different shapes and what they have to do is create a ship out of shapes. I changed the lyrics of a pirate/sea song to deal with shapes. It was a lot of fun to create, and I think the kids would enjoy it too. After learning about different shapes, I gave them a sheet of different shapes of different sizes and piece of graph paper. Then I also gave them a rubric after explaining what I wanted. This way they have the material and what I expect in front of them. This rubric was used to grade the ships.
Plickers
To bring more technology into my classroom, I created a set of Plickers for my fifth grade classroom. We have used them multiple times throughout the year when we are reviewing for tests. My students loved using them because they were something different and it involved using technology. I love this tool because it records the data from how my students answer the questions so that I can go back to it and see who understands and who doesn't. It also gives me evidence that someone is struggling on answering the questions. I liked being able to put in the questions that I wanted to ask, not just already formed questions. This tool also kept the students engaged, because they were eager for me to record their answer.
